Before I started working with Sam, I had been taking lessons for more than 10 years with countless singing teachers and never showed any real improvement. I was starting to lose hope and decided Sam would be the last teacher I’d try before giving up on my dreams. After just one lesson with Sam, I was astounded by my improvement. I love Sam’s energy! I sought out vocal lessons because I received feedback from my worship pastor; he advised that I seemed to tense up a bit in my vocal cords and wanted me to round out my vowels. Having never received any training before, this feedback totally went over my head. Sam not only helped me develop a better understanding of the feedback, but also validated my confusion which made me feel so comfortable! I learned a lot and had a lot of fun taking lessons from Sam. In helping me improve my technique, he emphasized what I was doing well and my natural strengths more than just correcting what I was not doing properly. We also explored and identified my habits outside of class that were helping or hindering my condition for singing. The range of music that I was able to work on with Sam made lessons very enjoyable – Sam clearly has deep knowledge of specific genres such as musical theatre, but he is able and happy to teach everything from pop, R&B, to jazz and even rap. I would strongly recommend Sam as a singing teacher.
