His training technique is quick and efficient without making the experience intimidating. He never wasted time in our sessions, and also kept it at a pace that was easy for me. Since studying with him, in two months time I already feel the strength and technique required to sing any song I want. He gave me the confidence I needed to sing all of my music and to be proud of my own personal sound.

When I first reached out to Sam, I wasn’t just looking for vocal lessons—I was going through a rough patch and trying to find a way back to my emotions. During that time, I fell down a rabbit hole of American Idol clips on YouTube and stumbled across one of his reaction videos to “bad” auditions. Instead of mocking the singers, he met them with genuine compassion. He pointed out what they were actually doing right and broke down exactly how they could improve with targeted, technical adjustments. That kindness and clarity instantly stood out to me.
Working with him in real life has been everything I hoped for and more. Not only has my vocal technique noticeably improved, but lessons quickly became the highlight of my week. Sam makes the process genuinely fun, creates a completely safe space to make mistakes, and has helped me set real goals that built my confidence from the ground up. I came looking for a singing teacher, but I also gained a fantastic mentor and a true friend! ☺️
I learned a lot and had a lot of fun taking lessons from Sam. In helping me improve my technique, he emphasized what I was doing well and my natural strengths more than just correcting what I was not doing properly. We also explored and identified my habits outside of class that were helping or hindering my condition for singing. The range of music that I was able to work on with Sam made lessons very enjoyable – Sam clearly has deep knowledge of specific genres such as musical theatre, but he is able and happy to teach everything from pop, R&B, to jazz and even rap. I would strongly recommend Sam as a singing teacher.

I’ve taken lessons with Sam for the better part of the decade after a 2 year gap and health struggles. Objectively speaking he is a thorough teacher. Be it a technical struggle like missing notes or a more emotionally based need like regulating your nerves before a performance, Sam has risen to the occasion many, many times over the years.
I’d be confident in saying that you can walk away with something after taking a lesson with him regardless of where you are in your singing journey because he is that kind of teacher. An overall solid human being who tries to do good and help the world be a little bit kinder, and a little bit more musical.
If you stick with him you’ll land a solid teacher who isn’t afraid to be wrong and correct a course to help you. If you ignore his suspicious lack of musical viewing you might even end up with someone you consider a friend (that you pay a fee to see on a semi regular basis)
Do not ask him for help finding a song you’ve forgotten though, he is 0/3 with very clear humming but, no one is perfect, so don’t let that deter you.
As a researcher and teacher, I read every testimonial on Sam’s website in preparation for writing my own tribute to this giant of musical talent—and found that I could easily say “ditto” to every one of them.
Perhaps what I can offer prospective students instead is this: Who Sam is cannot be separated from how Sam teaches. He is a treasure of a human being and one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. He is a font of musical and pedagogical talent.
Sam is a born teacher who understands—and has refined—the art of teaching: the skillfulness, presence, patience, authentic compassion, creativity, discernment, and good boundaries it requires, as well as the ability to recognize the growing edge of each student’s voice. He is economical with time, wonderfully down-to-earth, passionate about teaching, and genuinely exultant in his students’ progress.
Sam has refined the art of teaching—and he teaches us to bring that same refinement to the art of using our voices.
I have carried two lifelong truths: I love to sing, and I am ashamed to be heard. Watching Sam’s videos, I instinctively knew that if I ever felt courageous enough to take voice lessons, I would trust him. Not only because his understanding of how the voice works so clearly exceeded my own, but because he is deeply kind—and because he understands the profound human need to express oneself authentically through singing.
Scared-me is still amazed that singer-me has joined the chorus. And that, dear Sam, is because of what you’ve taught me.
I love Sam’s energy! I sought out vocal lessons because I received feedback from my worship pastor; he advised that I seemed to tense up a bit in my vocal cords and wanted me to round out my vowels. Having never received any training before, this feedback totally went over my head. Sam not only helped me develop a better understanding of the feedback, but also validated my confusion which made me feel so comfortable! This past weekend I sang again and my worship Pastor heard a notable difference! It was so encouraging! A true teacher, Sam is so generous with his time and skills to help cultivate progress with his students. Super thankful for him!
Sam is a gifted and passionate vocal coach, and I’m thrilled to have had him as my teacher. His in-depth knowledge of vocal technique helped me improve my voice and sing with much more ease and power. His lessons were fun; i have had the pleasure of working with him.
I am 45 years old and had wanted to take lessons all my life, and finally made the time to do it. Sam was recommended to me from a friend and I have enjoyed taking lessons from him. He is great teacher who thrives on technique. Although you might not always think the technique is helping, as some of the exercises are weird at times, and makes you wonder how this is helping you sing, the technique that Sam teaches works. I have been surprised at how far along my voice has come in three months. Simply amazed. I can actually hold a key. My range has gotten better, and I actually know when I am off key. The technique he uses is amazing and with practice I actually feel like I can sing. I still have a lot of work to do, but Sam has given me a great foundation. I would recommend Sam to anyone for singing lessons. He is great teacher and has been blessed with a talent that I’m glad he is sharing with other’s.

When I started monthly voice lessons with Sam almost 5 years ago, my goal was to gain the confidence to sing in front of people. Since then, I have performed in multiple online recitals hosted by Sam, recorded and shared covers, and overcome my fear of getting up on stage to belt my favorite songs on karaoke night. I couldn’t have done any of this without the safe environment that Sam creates in his lessons, and recitals. He is honest and direct when I need to improve my technique, while also being affirmative and encouraging. He is a clear communicator, and a fantastic educator.

Sam is far and above the best voice teacher I have ever had. I restarted training after several years away with low expectations for myself, but am now achieving things I never dreamed of before. His approach technically, artistically, and interpersonally is exactly what I’ve always needed as a performer.
I’ve been taking regular voice lessons with Sam for a couple of years now, and I always leave a lesson feeling energised and inspired.
Working with Sam has helped me achieve vocal progress I never thought I was capable of, which is deeply fulfilling.
Having Sam encourage me, guide my technical progress in a way that really clicks with my learning style, and coax me out of my creative comfort zone with deep empathy has changed the way I see myself, and I’m so grateful for that.
The introspective process of learning rhythm, emotion, character, and narrative in music—and putting that into practice—has been the most effective form of therapy I’ve ever experienced.
I’m more in tune with music and singing on a technical level, but also on a deeper intuitive level. I feel more grounded within my own mind and body, and more confident in my creative identity and expression, even beyond music!
I would absolutely recommend working with Sam for anyone with an interest in not only improving vocally, but also creatively overall!

Taking lessons from Sam has improved both my skill and my confidence! He uses a variety of techniques to work through challenges. He has the knowledge to teach to any style of music. His teaching style allows me to make mistakes and laugh at myself, while learning how to avoid them going forward. I look forward to lessons and the opportunity to explore a variety of songs and styles.

I was a complete beginner when I started with Sam. He was always patient and encouraging throughout the 3 + years we worked together, exploring the easiest ways to sing different songs and styles. Thanks to his knowledge and discerning ears, I find our lessons highly productive and helpful. Being able to sing whether to myself or to an audience is so freeing, and I’m so grateful to have met him as my voice teacher.
Booking lessons with Sam has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my vocal ability, confidence, and career. His ability to explain the why behind vocal technique is what sets him apart. He helped me bridge the gap between understanding concepts and actually feeling and hearing them in my own voice. Since working with him, I’ve gained more usable range, better agility and control, improved vocal health, and greater confidence. It’s also helped me become a regular paid performer and teacher. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Before I started working with Sam, I had been taking lessons for more than 10 years with countless singing teachers and never showed any real improvement. I was starting to lose hope and decided Sam would be the last teacher I’d try before giving up on my dreams. After just one lesson with Sam, I was astounded by my improvement. Now I can’t believe that I can finally sing how I always dreamed and have a range I never thought possible. Sam is hands down the best vocal coach and truly just an all around great human being.

Taking lessons with Sam helped me grow as a technical singer and gave me a comfortable space to explore my voice without being judged. He is a consistent, patient, and experienced teacher who can adapt to changing voices and different styles of music.

Sam has a beautiful knack for building up a student’s confidence in where they are in their journey NOW, while also seeing where they can go and knowing just how far to push a student out of their comfort zone to get there. With Sam’s guidance, I went from a timid, reluctant singer to falling completely in love with singing and practice has become a highlight of my days. I’ve discovered more range and color to my voice than I ever knew I had, and on the way accidentally developed a self-trust that I didn’t know was missing from my life. Sam is a born teacher and excellent guide on any vocal journey.
Sam has been my voice teacher since the pandemic. I was stuck indoors and desperate for a creative outlet – and singing was something I loved but never really had the opportunity to explore in any structured way. Finding his YouTube videos online was a bolt of excitement. As someone who grew up playing violin in orchestra, it was so cool to see him break down a wide array of music and in a new, yet accessible language.
I vividly remember around that time looking at where he was based to see if I could swing an in-person lesson when visiting a friend in Arizona. Lucky for me, Sam also offered virtual lessons and thus began a multi-year journey of musical exploration, discovery, and complete joy. Singing is such a magical gift and Sam has unlocked so much of it for me – building confidence, honing proper vocal technique, and challenging myself to find character, color, and depth to my vocal performance.
Through his studio’s virtual vocal recitals, I have felt an awesome connection to a global community of people and artists, all of whom Sam has sharpened and empowered. Whether you are someone who just likes to sing, or a singer looking to find their next level, Sam’s inquisitive, technical approach is right for you. Thank you so much Sam!
I have taken lessons from Sam on and off over the last 7 years.
When I started with him it was on a whim. I found his youtube, and said ‘what do I have to lose?’. I have a history with music, having sung in choirs most of my life but I never had the sound I wanted outside of a choir setting. And I couldn’t figure it out on my own. I can honestly say that while I will probably never be a professional or anything like that, that investing in myself for this hobby that I am so passionate about has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Not only did Sam never once make me feel awkward, or weird, or like I didn’t know what I was talking about, but he helped me to feel so much more confident and comfortable singing in front of real life people. He’s fantastic at seeing what someone needs, even if they can’t see it themselves, and pulling at it gently enough that you don’t even notice that he’s doing it and BAM you’re doing things with your voice you didn’t think were possible. He meets you were you are at, and pushes you to get to be where he knows you can be.
Best. Voice. Teacher. Ever.
Sam knows and loves his craft. Nowhere is that more apparent than during one-on-one coaching sessions. I know Sam cares about me and my desires for my singing. He listens, he diagnoses, he teaches, he advises, then he helps me do the necessary work to succeed. Sam’s methods and techniques are always up-to-date, transcend antiquated vocal ideas, and span the entire singing experience from breath support and retention, to muscular relaxation, vowel formation, range, and resonance. With Sam, I know I am getting the best coaching possible from someone who sees the whole picture even better than I do.
I am a longtime student of Sam’s. What I particularly love about working with Sam is that, while you certainly learn technique and how to sing, he also helps you connect with what is special about your own voice and relationship with music. I started with voice lessons with Sam, and later expanded to writing music and starting a band. I can trace so much of my development as a musician back to a specific lesson with Sam. I can’t recommend him highly enough!

Over the years, I have had many singing teachers, and Sam, by far, has been the best. There were multiple singing concepts that other teachers tried to explain to me, but they didn’t truly click until I began working with Sam.
Sam has a unique ability to create exercises and activities that are easy to understand, enjoyable, and produce significant results. His feedback is clear and informative. My singing skills improved drastically under his direction and support.
I truly appreciate Sam’s patience, creativity, encouragement, and guidance. He has made a significant difference in my growth as a singer, and as a person. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from him.

I’m so happy my sister told me about Sam from watching his YouTube videos! He’s always encouraging of whatever the current state of my voice is, and acknowledges the progress made, while continuing to work toward achieving my goals. I’ve grown significantly in my vocal ability by working with him.
Even from the very first lessons I took with Sam, I felt immediate improvements in many aspects of my singing. He is very patient and thorough when explaining techniques, and helped me develop both my voice and my understanding of the voice. Within a week, I felt myself make more progress with his direction than I had with months of practicing alone!
